Bathroom Light Fixtures

Five Ways to Illuminate Your Bathroom

Bathroom light fixtures? Planning to renovate your bathroom, but confused about the kind of lighting you should install?

Since all bathrooms endure a lot of wetness and moisture, it is very important that whatever lights you install should be able to withstand and work in this kind of environment.

Bathrooms lighting can broadly be divided into five different kinds which can serve different lighting purposes depending on what kind of space you have.

1. You can install wall mounted bathroom lighting fixtures such as sconces on each side of the bathroom vanity or mirror.

This lighting is suitable for illuminating the small areas of the bathroom which do not require too much light. Also keep in mind that the covers of the lighting will create shadows if no other lights are places in the bathroom.

If you are planning to install these lights, you can go for bathroom vanities with built-in track lights.

Alternatively, you could also add electric candles to different places in the bathroom, such as above the bathtub. This will help in creating a romantic and relaxing atmosphere in the bathroom. 2. If you want to get a modern and clean look in the bathroom, you can go for recessed lighting.

Though it may cost more than other traditional lights, it is perfect for lighting up a particular area of the bathroom.

Alternatively, you can also install these lights across the ceiling to illuminate the entire room.

3. Track Lighting is good for small sized bathroom as well as for illuminating a particular area of the bathroom (such as around the mirror or vanity).

It is extremely easy to install this type of lighting and provides a sleek and modern look.

However, keep in mind that track-lights can sometimes be prone to rusting in the moist environment.

4. Installing Ceiling lights centralized in the room provide enough light to illuminate the entire bathroom.

They are highly functional, inexpensive, and available in a variety of styles to choose from.

The only problem comes if you have an L- or irregularly shaped bathroom, which would tend to produce shadows.

Since bathrooms tend to be messier rooms, you should opt for bathroom light fixtures that provides great lighting! 5. You can also go for a bathroom light fixture that hangs, such as a lighted ceiling fan or bathroom chandelier for lighting up the bathroom.

However, make sure that the ones you pick out are suitable to work in areas containing moisture constantly.

Bowl-shaped hanging fixtures can collect moisture, and ornate chandeliers may need to be wiped free of mineral deposits that can form similar structures to stalactites in caves. Choosing Right Bathroom Vanities

Lighting up your bathroom vanity properly is also very important to improve its functionality.

Most of the time, the overhead light in the bathroom is not enough to illuminate the vanity enough to allow you to put on make-up or shave with precision.

Without the right kind of vanity lighting, you will end up with reflections and shadows in the unwanted areas.

Plus, you want to find lighting that looks as natural as possible.

You may look great under a florescent light, but the real world may say otherwise!

Choosing the right bathroom light fixture design is equally important in order to provide the appropriate amount as well as quality of light to the bathroom vanity.

You need to consider the type of bulb, finish, size and style. Various kinds of vanity lighting are available these days.

You can choose the one that suits your personality and more importantly, the design that blends with the rest of the bathroom décor.

Proper positioning of the vanity lighting is also quite important as improper placement can lead to shadows and glares in unwanted areas.

Place bathroom light fixtures on both sides of your mirror to avoid shadow formation. If you have a big sized mirror, you can suspend your light right over the mirror.

The key is to install light at your eye level in order to get even lighting without any shadows.
